About Us
As we expanded our geographic reach in the early 2000s supplying into Rubber compounding and Adhesives in New Zealand and Australia, we further broadened our offering to include Engineering Polymer resins to the plastic injection moulding and extrusion industry. Since 2014, the Consumer Specialities division started offering functional ingredients and highly substantiated actives from an established portfolio of partners to our Cosmetic and Pharmaceutical customers in the region. Later adding a specialist portfolio of raw materials to the Printing ink, Paint and Resin industries, with new warehouses located in Sydney and Melbourne.

How can we help you?
Market Segments
In Australia and New Zealand we support three specific markets, bringing our local expertise to each sector.
ADHESIVES & COATINGS
Adhesives
With over 90 years’ experience of supplying Gum Rosin and Rosin derivatives, the Hobart Group has continually developed a diverse range of high-quality raw materials, including hydrocarbon resins, rubber elastomers, waxes, rheology modifiers and other additives; all sourced from world class manufacturers, to meet the exacting requirements of many different adhesive applications including hot-melt, PSA and various contact adhesives.
Coatings & Inks
From the Brilliant shades of our fluorescent colourants to the durability and opacity of our inorganic pigments, our portfolio covers the requirements of all coatings from speciality decorative and security to heavy industrial. In addition, our portfolio of gum rosins, rheology modifiers, fillers, and matting agents provide formulation tools for most liquid coating systems.
CONSUMER SPECIALITIES
From an established portfolio of global Partners, we offer innovative concepts and solutions with functional ingredients such as emulsifiers and texturising agents, as well as highly substantiated actives. Thanks to the expertise in research and development of many of our partners, with a focus on quality and sustainability, we support Health, Wellbeing and Beauty.
We also have access to a range of solutions in the pharmaceutical market, including Excipients, APIs and unique and tailored pharmaceutical solutions.
We offer a full range of ingredients, including delivery systems (natural and synthetic), actives and fragrance for the following markets.
POLYMERS
The Polymers division is dedicated to offering a wide range of additives for your rubber and plastic requirements, including speciality additives for Tyre and Non-Tyre industries.
We have been active in Australia since the 1990s offering many of the same products that we do in other regions, along with some specifically for the Australian market.
Rubber
Our selection of products manufactured at our facility, Anchor Chemicals, since 1985 include:
Rubber-to-Metal Adhesives under the tradenames Ecorrlok and Ty-Ply for bonding rubber to metal and other rigid substrates.
Coated Powder blends with or without dust suppression.
Process Aids which aid the dispersion of fillers within rubber compounds.
Release Agents are widely used in the batch off process as a surface treatment for green rubber layers to assist with processability. It gives temporary tack insulation between the plied sheets and is compatible with most types of rubber compounds.
Plastics
We supply Engineering Polymer resins to the plastic injection moulding and extrusion industry.
Coatings
This portfolio includes :
Waxes, Pigments & Anti-Corrosives, Fillers & Extenders, Resins, Rheology, Surfactants, Dispersants, Resins & Polymers, Potato Starch Derivatives, UV Absorbers, UV Photoinitiators, Flame Retardants, Plasticisers, and Dyestuffs.
Coatings & Inks
Segments supported include Decorative, Wood Coatings, Automotive Coatings, Can & Coil Coatings, Industrial Coatings, Marine Coatings, Powder Coatings and Paste, Liquid, Inkjet, Digital, UV (Ultraviolet), Water- and Solvent-Based Inks with raw materials such as:
Flame Retardants (Antimony Oxides, Brominated, Phosphates, Chlorinated Paraffin, Melamine, Zinc Borate), Gum Rosin, Hydrocarbon Resins, Organic Phosphates (TCEP, TBP, CDP, APP, TCPP, TDCPP, Melamine Polyphosphate), Nitrocellulose Resins, Dispersing agents, Pigments (Titanium Dioxide, Cuprous Oxide, Ultramarine Blue / Violets, Iron Oxides, Chrome Oxide, Anticorrosive, Daylight fluorescent, Security and Special effect, Phosphorescent, Thermochromic, Photochromic, UV / IR Invisibles), Tall Oil, Oligomers, Monomers and Photoinitiators, and Wax Dispersions & Emulsions (Amide, PTFE and Polyethylene).
Our technically supported products are FEMAS certified and registered under the Feed Hygiene Regulations include:
Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT), Calcium Iodate, Cobalt Salts (Cobalt Acetate, Cobalt Carbonate, Cobalt Sulphate), Copper Salts (Copper Carbonate, Copper Hydroxide, Copper Oxychloride, Copper Oxide, Copper Sulphate), Manganese Salts (Manganese Oxide, Manganese Sulphate), Potassium Salts (Potassium Iodide, Potassium Iodate), Selenium Salts (Selenium Sodium Selenate, Sodium Selenite, Selenium Premix), Sodium Molybdate and Zinc Salts (Zinc Oxide, Zinc Sulphate).
We offer a carefully selected range to meet the exacting requirements of the glass manufacturing industry. BHT is the go-to antioxidant and our range of organic acids, organic acid salts and preservatives provides the wood preservation industry with many formulation options to replace more traditional technologies. For Resin Production, we offer a portfolio of process aids and intermediates including heat transfer fluids, antioxidants, catalysts and monomers.
The raw material schedule includes:
Acids (Polyphosphoric, Hypophosphorous, 2 EH, C8C10, Phosphorous and Isobutyric), Antimony (Trioxide, Pentoxide), Derivatives (MEG, PEGs, Ethanolamines, Castor Oil), Sodium Acetate Anhydrous, Sodium Bromate, Sodium Butyrate, Sodium Hypophosphite, Potassium (Iodide, Bromate) and Triphenyl Phosphine.
Our innovative ingredients and solutions for Personal Care, Home Care, Institutional Cleaning, and Pharmaceutical applications. We have established ourselves over the past 90 years as a significant distributor into the Homecare market with Forest Chemicals: Pine Oil, Gum Turpentine derivatives, Terpenes and associated products.
